Hasta La Vista Ol' Fren...

Greetings Me Droogs N Droogettes!
Super lite for now.  Got word early this morning Guido-the-Dog cashed in around 3 a.m. last night.
<le sigh>
If'n it ain't One thing it's another Aye?
He went -relatively- peacefully Mom said.  Whimpered a bit, breathing slowed, heard "You're a good boy!" one last time from Mom while she pet him, he in turn wagged his tail one last time to say "Yo I'm out!" and died.

So, he made it 10 years.  That for an English Lab with his health history is a long life.  The warranty so to speak runs out at ten, and anything over is bonus.  That's the bummer about bigger doogies.  Shorter lifespan.
I had a copy of "The Rainbow Bridge" kid's book to help comfort them.
They didn't want us coming up, and the ER Vet that we took him to was very helpful in assisting with carcass removal.  Like came to the house with a stretcher 'cos M&D ain't able to lift 140 pounds of dead-weight.

Soooooo... kind of a pall over the Casa now... even the Sausage Queen Stella knows something is amiss.  We'll get through it, but my worry is Dad, as he's 83 and that was his buddy.  Shit.

Telling ya, this's been the "Summer of Suck" and it ain't near over yet.

  1. Don't want to seem uncaring, but I really don't know what to say. Most folks have felt that loss. I have, too many times, and have a fifteen year old Chihuahua twelve year old dachshund, and a ten year old lab mix crippled and scarred from running the country and fighting, so such a story as yours hits me. Dreading the day when one of ours goes. The wife has been given a young dumbernshit mix she loves,, so when her little Chihuahua buddy goes at least she will have a friend to hold..
    Hope your dad gets through the loss and keeps on keeping on.

  4. Wow. The way you wrote this makes me think you're one of "Those" cat guys. Am I wrong?

  5. Head over to the shelters and look for another easygoing rug type dog that is about 4 to 5 YO, with a good disposition and gift to dad. Trust me, it will make his both dad and dog perk up, especially if the dog is good with older folks. Good luck.

  6. It double sucks when a good dog leaves. We had 4 GSD superdogs. Last one left last Sept. No more for us. It hurts too bad. I hope your family weathers this storm ok. Time heals a lot of shit.

  9. Nothing worse than losing your dog....I lost mine last June while I was on a business trip. My son found her laying in the yard. No warning, perfectly healthy by all appearances...I miss that dog!

  10. I'm sorry to hear about the passing of Guido the Labrador. He was a handsome fella. I follow a YouTube channel Andrew Camarata, who runs an excavation company and has yellow Labs. He posted a tribute to his Lab, Levi, who recently passed. Not ashamed to say I cried like a baby, although I'd never met the dog.
    Again, my condolences for Guido, and may God comfort your Dad in this loss of his most loyal friend.

  11. Dogs, cats, horses, and other animal friends all go to their respective "heavens". Just like us. I still miss my friends so I know how Dad feels. Ohio Guy
